Kingsmith WR1 review: folding rowing machine

I’ve been interested in rowing machines since I watched House of Cards and saw Frank Underwood rowing so I got interested. At that time I also wanted to buy it, but every time I looked at it, every machine was too big and long.

Over the years, when Kingsmith introduced a foldable rowing machine, I thought this was a cosmic signal, so there’s no need to talk about it anymore.

The case is quite large, weighing nearly 42Kg. Luckily it fit in the trunk of the car.

This is the packaging of the machine, guys. Machine weight excluding water is 34kg. The size of the machine when folded is 72 x 50 x 58cm. Inside the tank there is a small pump to fill the towing part with water. You can add up to 13.65L of water.

Don’t overfill the line. Water tank when filled. So when filled with water, the total weight is about 48Kg. However, you can still easily tilt the device and move it around the house when you don’t need it.

Removing it for use is also very simple, in just a few minutes.

Dimensions when opened are 56 x 194 x 50cm. In general, when opened, its size is as big as other rowing machines on the market. What I like is that the machine is made of wood like other high-end rowing machines. The seat has a height of about 29cm, equivalent to the rowing machines I have used.

The joints and screws look nice and sturdy. The machine is almost entirely made of wood, guys. The black part in the photo above is also made of wood. Stainless steel clad wood. The machine has a small LCD screen, powered by 2 included AA batteries, displaying basic information such as speed, rowing distance, etc. The device has bluetooth to connect to the KS Fit app. And only supports KS Fit app, cannot connect to other apps.

Personally, I don’t need an app, just climb in and row. Rowing is simple, wear shoes (for soft feet), climb up, hold the lever and pull. The machine will help exercise muscles such as the abdomen, chest, hamstrings, buttocks, legs, etc. The resistance of the water when pulling will make you feel like you are rowing a boat, and if you pull hard, the resistance is strong, if you pull lightly, the resistance is light, so the machine is suitable for many different ages. The machine is a compact folding model, so when the wheel slides across the folding area, there is a slight feeling, but after sitting for a while, you don’t feel anything anymore, in general it doesn’t affect it.

The folding and mounting structure of the machine is very simple, easy to disassemble, but I find it very sturdy. The wheels help move smoothly when not in use, rolling very smoothly. In short, I am satisfied with this product. I’ve wanted a rowing machine for a long time. Now that I’ve bought it, I don’t know how many times I’ll be able to use it, but I’m glad I did. Likes of the Kingsmith WR1 machine :

  • Beautifully finished, almost made of wood, very similar to expensive machines worth tens of millions.
  • Need to pour water in to practice, the water resistance feels good and real.

Dislikes:

  • The screen has no color, cannot connect to Apple Watch.
